Volcan Arenal revisited - we stopped again on our way back through to see if we could catch a glimpse of the erupting volcano and were we rewarded!! The clouds parted at about 11pm and we caught a taxi round the side of the volcano and spent 1 and half hours watching it put on a show for us.
This is a river of lava flowing down the side..
You can see the red hot rim at the top of the volcano, and heaps of lava spilling down the face towards us..
This is the very top of the volcano. There were earth tremors and huge explosions with flames and rock thrown way up in the air.. it was just amazing, and we were only 1km away!!
